The Vail/Eagle Valley Rocky Mountain Horse Expo is timed right to launch the summer riding season and placed right in one of Colorado’s most popular horse areas—1.5 hours from Steamboat, close to Grand Junction, Aspen, the Front Range and the Western Slope, and nestled in the heart of the White River National Forest.
Enjoy three days of the Horse Expo and stay over for a few extra to ride the high mountain trails, play with the reiners, ropers and cutters, and enjoy the many other attractions of the area.
2008 Expo Show Hours:
- Friday, May 30 - 8:30am to 7pm
- Saturday, May 31 - 8:30am to 7pm
- Sunday, June 1 - 8:30am to 5pm

In the clutch, the mark of a good horseman often boils down to his or her ability to see the world from the horse’s perspective, and ride accordingly. Nowhere is this skill so relevant than during the timed, judged event known as the “Extreme Cowboy Race®,” hosted by Craig Cameron. When the contestant and horse arrive at the starting line, the rider might see piles of logs, mounds of dirt, improbable contraptions of found objects. The horse sees nonsense, and sometimes pretty spooky nonsense at that.
