Craig Cameron presents Extreme Cowboy Race™
Ignacio Rocky Mountain Horse Expo
Sky Ute Event Center
September 18-20, 2009
WHAT IS THE EXTREME COWBOY RACE™?
The Extreme Cowboy Race™—as seen on RFD-TV—is a timed and judged race through an obstacle course that is designed not only to push horse and rider teams out of their traditional “comfort zones,” but also to test communication between horse and rider and the horsemanship skills and athletic abilities of each competitor. Spectators will find the competition exciting and entertaining to watch while contenders will address the challenges of the race in pursuit of cash, prizes and the title of “Extreme Cowboy Race™ Champion.” At the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo in Denver, Colorado, Craig Cameron will conduct his Extreme Cowboy Race™ on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND:
The Extreme Cowboy Race™ was originally created by Craig Cameron along with Ryan Dohrn of HorseCity.com to challenge typical reality TV shows with an infusion of horseback riding thrills. Craig Cameron has designed and hosted five race series at his Double Horn Ranch in Bluff Dale, Texas, since 2005. Each season Craig Cameron assembles an impressive roster of competitors from around the country who compete for the title of Extreme Cowboy Race™ Champion. The Extreme Cowboy Race™ spans fifteen 30-minute episodes featuring horse and rider teams as they complete the various rounds of the race course. The Extreme Cowboy Race™ airs on RFD-TV and is also available on HorseCity.com for those who do not get RFD-TV. DVDs of the recent shows are also available for sale through HorseCity.com and Craig Cameron Enterprises.
OBJECTIVES AND JUDGING
The Extreme Cowboy Race™ will be a timed event during which the performance of each horse and rider team will be judged on each obstacle for quality of horsemanship. For each obstacle, judges will award performance points on a scale of 1-10 based on the following criteria: horsemanship, cadence, control, horse’s attitude, and overall execution. Horses and riders will be required to complete each obstacle within a given time in order to receive points. If an obstacle is not completed within the given timeframe, the contestant will be flagged and must move on to the next obstacle. Times will be translated into points, with the highest overall point score winning the race.
PRIZES
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the final phase of the race on Sunday.
HOW TO APPLY
The Extreme Cowboy Race™ will be open to riders age 18 years and older and horses of all breeds. All horse and rider teams will compete against each other; there will be no “divisions” based on gender or age. To receive an application, interested riders may email us at doublehornd@lipan.net, fax (254) 728-3081, or call (254) 728-3082. The entry fee for each horse/rider team is $250. Individual riders may compete with more than one horse in the race, but they must submit a separate application and fee for each horse they wish to enter in the race. Applications, videos, and/or pictures will be received by Craig Cameron who will select the competitors for the race. Applications will be considered until all selected contestants are confirmed.
Once selections have been made, contestants will be notified by phone, mail, or e-mail. Any applicants who are not selected will receive notification by mail along with their entry fee checks. Entry fees of accepted contestants will not be refundable. Any and all videos, pictures, and/or other application materials submitted become the property of Craig Cameron Enterprises and will not be returned.)
