The Rocky Mountain Horse Expo is pleased to welcome Christopher D. Whitney, president of the Colorado Horse Council, to speak at the Durango event. Mr. Whitney will explore the growing problem of unwanted and unusable horses in Colorado and throughout the United States. He will review the current status of federal and state bans on the slaughter of horses and will discuss some potential implications, social and economic, of such a ban in the larger context of the explosion in unwanted horses. He will also describe solutions being explored by private and public individuals and organizations to address the problem for the long term.
