Rocky Mountain Horse Expo
October 5-7, 2007 -- La Plata County Fairgrounds
Horse enthusiasts can look forward to bright days, cool evenings and dazzling fall color at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo in Durango this October; it’s all backdrop for the Expo’s renowned clinicians and speakers, breed and stallion demonstrations, private treaty horse sales, and ample shopping opportunities. Here are the highlights:
- Julie Goodnight – 3 new arena presentations plus 3 classroom sessions on different aspects of horse/human relations
- Troy Rogers – Starting a horse on cattle, plus ranch competition skills and demonstrations
- Mike Ross – Establishing sound beginnings and colt starting
- Karen Scholl – Horsemanship for women
- Ryan Gingerich – Connective horsemanship
- Mike Kevil – How a horse learns (different aspects covered each day)
- Dennis Pennington – Getting the gait, and keeping it: Riding and Training Gaited Horses
- Rick Lamb, “The Horse Show” TV/Radio host and author
- Janine and Jim Wilder – “Adventures in Trail Riding” including horse behavior on the trail, secrets of finding great campsites, and international riding opportunities
- Lyn Walker – How to choose the right stall flooring to suit you and your horse
- Chris Whitney, President of the Colorado Horse Council -- Updates on legislative issues; discussion of the CHC support of the Unwanted Horse Coalition’s efforts to promote responsible horse ownership
On top of all that, children can compete for prizes in the Kent Feeds Stick Horse Rodeos held three times every day. And everyone will enjoy the daily breed and stallion demonstrations and the presentations of the private treaty sale horses. On the trade show floor, vendors will offer a wide array of goods and services for the horse enthusiasts of today and the young stars of the future.
