When advertisement is transformed by artwork, the product is memorable. Even collectible. Recently the acclaimed international photographer Claude Steelman contributed his image, “No Holding Back,” to the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, who then put this fine artwork to fine effect in an art calendar-poster promoting the three 2008 Horse Expos. This is the first in a planned series of annual calendars from the RMHE, with the intention of shining a daily spotlight on the beauty and drama of the horse.

The 2007 annual meeting of the Colorado Horse Council in November brought some changes: elected as officers for 2007-08 were Kathie Riley, president; Kathleen Burke, vice-president; Bill Scebbi, treasurer; and Cindy Schonholtz, secretary. In addition, the board welcomed two additional members, Mark Dawson and Dennis Kuehl.

Colorado State University equine sciences has scheduled the second annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale, to be held in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the National Western Complex. The student-run sale will feature horses consigned from many of the country's top working ranches. The ranch horse competition between consigning ranches will take place immediately prior to the sale.
Horses available through the sale will include 2 and 3-year-old fillies and 2 and 3-year-old geldings that have been trained in the Colorado State University horse training class. In addition, each participating ranch will consign a well trained, working horse.

In a state as full of horses and horse-lovers as Colorado, it proved to be no trouble at all for the Colorado Horse Development Authority, who collected them in support of the special license plate honoring the most important player in Colorado's $1.6 billion horse industry. Now the plate program moves on to the Division of Motor Vehicles for final design, and into the legislative phase, during which lawmakers will decide the fate of the special plates.
