Clinicians

Debbie Bibb
Creating the Ultimate Trail Horse
www.debbiebibb.com
(719) 748-8543

Debbie BibbBased at Running D Ranch in Florissant, Colorado, Debbie Bibb is a trainer and clinician with more than 30 years of horse experience. Debbie graduated from the John Lyons Trainer Certification program in Parachute, Colo., in 2001 after 6 months of study under both John and Josh Lyons, for which she used her two horses, Classy and Cheyenne. Now, as a nationally recognized horse trainer, Debbie knows one thing remains the same throughout the equine world - all horses have the same basic instincts and thought processes that can be used to teach any desired skill. Her Building the Horse of a LifetimeT training program is especially designed to educate both horse and rider so that the two may work together successfully.

Debbie's goal is to improve the relationship a person has with his or her horse while achieving better performance through patient, gentle and consistent training methods. She trains a wide variety of horses at her ranch and conducts demonstrations and clinics to teach people her training methods. Debbie has experience in both English and Western disciplines and enjoys teaching horse owners of all experience levels.

Debbie BibbShe believes that the key ingredients of horse training are focus, patience, consistency and timing. If you have focus, she believes, all the other ingredients come together: "If you are focused, you are waiting for even the smallest positive change in your horse and thus gain patience. With focus, you also gain the consistency and timing that are critical in success with your horse." Debbie believes that using these training principles, a person can have the best horse they've ever had - the horse of a lifetime.

Always a true professional, Debbie is constantly striving to increase her training knowledge. She continues to study John and Josh Lyons' new developments in training, and also studies other trainers’ and clinicians’ methods in search of anything she can take away to improve her own program and help others with their horses.

Debbie has always had a passion for horses - from a horse-crazy little girl to an adult who is still amazed by the power and beauty of horses. Her education with horses began at age 5 when her parents bought her a horse and she started taking riding lessons. In addition to owning horses, she participated in 4-H and Girl Scout horse programs while she was growing up. Later on, she studied as an Equine Science/Pre-Vet major at Colorado State University, led horse packing trips and taught packing in the Wyoming back country and graduated from the Colorado Outdoor Adventure Guide School near Cripple Creek.

Debbie also strongly believes in giving back to the horse community. She supports equine rescue groups by offering demonstrations and clinics to use as fundraisers and special training assistance for rescue horses. With the help of United Animal Nations, Debbie and her husband, Mark, rescued their Percheron colt Zeb from the Premarin foal auctions in Canada.

Craig Cameron, Original "Cowboy's Clinician"

Craig CameronA Native Texan and known as the original "Cowboy's Clinician," Craig Cameron is on the road more than 44 weeks a year, covering 80,000 miles and demonstrating the style of horsemanship he has perfected in the last 23 years. Called the "public defender of the horse," Craig dedicates himself to those who educate their horses by first educating themselves. At an age where most have long since retired the very thought of starting colts, Craig starts hundreds of horses each year. On top of his daily work with horses, he is famous for his four-day clinics which blend education with entertainment for participants at his Double Horn ranches in Bluff Dale, TX and Lincoln, NM.

Clinic topics range from basic to advanced horsemanship, colt starting, ranch and cattle work, problem-solving, reining and trail obstacles. This year he plans to incorporate horse-camping and back-country riding techniques into his lesson plans.

Craig has created a program that builds confidence and trust between man and horse. Rather than fight the animal, he offers patience and understanding that leaves the horse wanting to do what is asked of him. Crediting legendary horseman Ray Hunt with opening his eyes to the possibilities in working through understanding the horse, Craig has earned a well-deserved international following with his philosophy of teaching that eliminates rough handling of horses.

As a life-long rancher, working cowboy and horse trainer, Craig has just about done it all, from cow-calf, stocker operations, custom hay-baling, or capturing wild cattle for fellow ranchers. After years of bull riding on the professional rodeo circuit and successfully operating his cattle business, Craig decided that it was truly the horse that attracted him. He soon discovered his aptitude for communicating with the horse and meticulously refined and nurtured this talent. He wanted to give back something to the horse. When he was ready, he began conducting western horsemanship clinics and demonstrations to help riders increase their knowledge and understanding of their horse and to keep the cowboy tradition alive.

Craig Cameron's original entertaining and motivational style is regularly sought after by TV, radio, magazine, fairs, ranches, concerts, universities and many celebrities. Craig has worked with and for such notables as Lynn Anderson, Ralph Lauren, Ty Murray, Michael Martin Murphy, Cody Lambert, Bum Phillips, Charmayne James, Bob Moorehouse, Buck Taylor and others. Singing artist Red Steagall says, "Cameron's year includes hundreds of public appearances nationwide, in Europe and in the Canadian Provinces. He always entertains the crowd and he's as good with a horse as anybody I have ever seen."

Well known rodeo champion Ty Murray sums it up: "Craig has a genuine love and compassion for horses. He respects them enough to try to see through their eyes."

Art Kiger

Art KigerArt Kiger started his romance with horses at a very early age. Like most young boys, Art had a pair of pearl handled cap guns, cowboy boots, and a lone ranger mask. With a stick horse in hand, Art always seemed to lope in and save the day. Family members jokingly remember a little white tornado.

By the time Art had reached junior high school, he was starting to break horses with his father, for their neighbors and friends for extra money. Throughout high school Art's dad planted a seed that started to take root; "There has got to be a better, gentler, safer way to break a horse" was the seed that began to grow in this young man's mind as he began his journey of professional horsemanship, "his passion". In 1996, Art decided to set out on his own, with his father's words engraved in his mind and a love for horses in his heart. Art's romance with horses quickly grew into a passion that led him to jobs with horses playing a key role, from full time work at feed yards, day work for ranchers, full time horseshoeing, to taking in outside horses for training, none of which satisfied his own desire for something more.

Art KigerIn 1999, Art married his high school sweetheart, Selena. Art knew that she was one of the missing pieces that was beginning to help his life make sense. Selena, also a horse lover, encouraged him to pursue his dreams and ideas and promised to support him every step of the way. In their third year of marriage they welcomed home a little girl, Dusti, and eighteen months later a boy, Cinch.

Art and Selena are truly blessed because of their love for each other as well as their own two "little tornados"!! Art was starting to understand and come to terms with many things in his life. His walk with his Savior Jesus Christ, the value of his family and friends, and not living each day for his own quest. In those small yet powerful lessons Art was being led not only to better himself as a horseman, but to share his knowledge and experiences with others in their own journey. In September 2004, Art began training for Rockin' E Ranch, a faith driven workplace, that encouraged him in growing his passion for horsemanship, but more importantly understanding "His Passion", and how Art could live out his faith and love for horses everyday. Currently, Art spends his days training himself to be a better man in the eyes of the Lord and a better horseman in the eyes of the horse. Art Kiger Horsemanship offer clinics to assist all levels of horsemen. Let Art help you "Find Your Passion".

Jason Patrick

Jason PatrickAll of Jason's childhood was spent horseback. Jason grew up on a ranch owned by his family in the Yampa Valley of the Colorado Rockies, near Steamboat Springs. During those years the ranch never owned less than 30 head of horses. As a 10 year old Jason had 5 horses in his "string" and they were all worn out by the end of the summer. Jason was hired for the first time to train a horse by longtime Colorado rancher Jack Orr; Jason was 12 at the time and has continued the business ever since.

Jason was very fortunate growing up to ride with some exceptional horsemen all over the country. When Jason was a teenager he got the opportunity to work in Northern California and see some exceptional natural horsemen completing everyday ranch work. Jason was hooked and has been on a journey to improve his horsemanship ever since. Jason's goal is to be an exceptional horseman by the time he's 80 years old.

In clinics and demonstrations, Jason's focus is demonstrating how to earn the trust and loyalty of a horse and then how to transfer that trust and loyalty into something practical. Natural Horsemanship is wonderful, but sometimes is not put into practical uses. Jason's focus is how to keep your horse as a trusting partner as you begin to ask for more performance.

Jason's sense of humor adds to his humble approach to teaching, bringing new fun to people and their horses from across the country. Jason conducted his first clinic in 1998 and has continued since, teaching in disciplines including Ranch Horse Versatility, Ranch Roping, Mounted Patrol Police Horsemanship, Trail Clinics, Colt Starting, Spook Proofing and Natural Horsemanship Clinics of all levels.

Safety Through Knowledge

Glenn RyanGlenn Ryan grew up in the shadow of a horse. Guided by his parents who owned a hunter-jumper stable, Glenn’s horsemanship and riding skills date back to riding Thoroughbreds by the time he was 3 years old. As a youngster, Glenn rode and showed hunter-jumpers with his father. He is quick to give credit for much of his horsemanship and livestock skills to working on remote cattle ranches in Northern California. “There is no better way to handle cattle than from the back of a horse,” says Glenn. “It’s been done the same way for a hundred years, but it is still the best.”

In 1975, he graduated from college with a degree in Natural Resources and started working with the U.S. Forest Service. For 18 years he has been a packer with collateral duties as trails foreman and back country patrolman. He is currently the lead packer for the Rocky Mountain Region Specialty Pack String.

Glenn enjoys teaching and has the patience for the repetition necessary to develop safety skills. Glenn trains Forest Service employees and volunteers to use proper safety practices and teaches them to develop their riding proficiency with safety foremost. He does not rush his students or push them ahead of their physical ability, but allows them time to form a solid safety foundation.

Karen Scholl, Horsemanship for Women:

Karen Scholl & BergWith almost 20 years of study in psychology-based horse training and 15 years instructing courses and clinics, Karen Scholl brings a unique perspective to the horse industry with her program, Horsemanship for Women.

Karen describes that, “Horses look to the leadership qualities of other horses for survival, and because most women are not taught leadership skills from an early age, it’s very common for us to become fearful or frustrated with our horse.”

By traveling all over the country teaching courses, Karen offers safe, supportive clinics where women learn the skills to communicate with their horse with lasting results. Even the husbands are impressed!

With a AA Degree in Equine Science, many years of teaching technical courses in the corporate environment and twenty years of horsemanship study, Karen brings a unique mix of educational skills and horsemanship abilities that are particularly suited to help women develop leadership, confidence and trust in themselves and with their horses.

“I’ve had extensive study in psychology-based horse training, and because I didn’t grow up with horses, I completely relate to the challenges so many women face. At the completion of every clinic many say that they are no longer afraid of their horse!” Karen says, “It’s the most rewarding thing I can imagine doing for people.”

Tools designed to adjust for the limited strength of women and free safety video downloads are just some of the opportunities Karen offers to help women gain more confidence, feel safe and have more fun with their horses.

Go on Karen’s website, www.karenscholl.com to register to receive a newsletter and notices when Karen is teaching in your area. Or call Karen’s office at 888-238-3447.

Audra Dobbs, Miss Rodeo Colorado 2009

“Support the Horse”? It’s what Miss Rodeo Colorado 2009 does every day.

Audra DobbsWith shiny new “Support the Horse” license plates on her truck, Audra Dobbs, Miss Rodeo Colorado, will travel the state throughout 2009, speaking on behalf of PRCA rodeo in particular, and the Colorado horse industry in general. “I’m delighted to have this opportunity,” Audra says. “Horses and our western heritage are so important.”

Audra values this heritage from first-hand experience growing up on a small ranch near Glenwood Springs, CO—in fact, the same ranch where her mother was born and raised. “My most wonderful childhood memories center around horses, with rodeo, trail riding and 4-H horse events.” She hopes to convey the value and excitement of horses to her audiences on her 2009 tour. As she says, “Horses have been a blessing to me my whole life. I want people to understand horses’ value both personally and to the state’s history and economy.”

Her dream of winning the title began when she was just four years old and met her first rodeo queen. The proud Colorado cowgirl—and fifth generation horsewoman—pressed forward during her school years, even penning a middle-school essay on why she desired the title and what she hoped to accomplish with it.

“Accomplish” is no small word for Audra. An honors graduate of Mesa State College, Audra gained her elementary teaching certificate as well as her qualification as a Reading Rescue Specialist—all the while she was competing up the ladder to her present title. She has taken a leave of absence from her position as a Grand Junction first-grade teacher to fulfill her duties as Miss Rodeo Colorado.

Her year got off to a great start, with 29 appearances at the National Western Stock Show and visits to the State Capitol and Children’s Hospital filling her January calendar. “I met some amazing people,” Audra says. She will appear at numerous rodeos in 2009, but she also plans to visit hospitals, schools, horse events, and more. One appointment she’s quite proud of is a Purple Heart Testimonial Dinner. “I believe in rodeo,” she says, “but I’m committed to the good of the whole horse industry. I’m excited to bring information about it to the general public.”

The Miss Rodeo Colorado position comes with publicity, responsibility and glory, but no financial help. Having stepped away from her teaching salary for the year, Audra is grateful for a Roper sponsorship, which offsets some of her clothing expenses. But she’d be delighted to welcome other sponsors, too, who might help with her horse, gas, insurance, travel and other expenses.

Ultimately, Audra will pursue a Master’s in Education Administration with plans to become a school administrator. Although she may not have much time for hobbies this year, she does enjoy pleasure riding and barrel racing, as well as dancing, target shooting, traveling, reading, snowmobiling, and boating. Her liver chestnut AQHA mare, Sequoia, goes with her to parades, ropings and riding in the mountains. “She’s part of my sanity,” Audra confesses with a laugh.

In December of 2009, Audra will join the nation’s best cowboys and cowgirls in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, where she’ll proudly represent Colorado in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Colorado horse enthusiasts will all be cheering for her.

www.8thheavenhorses.com

Roger KyleRoger’s career with horses began with the Denver Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit. As the unit’s trainer from 1990-2005, he discovered a more reliable method for teaching the horses and officers to successfully negotiate the busy streets, parks, parades, riots and other challenges of the city. After almost thirty years of police work Roger retired his position and began teaching civilian horses and riders the same concepts at 8th Heaven Farms in Castle Rock.

Roger believes that working with horses and riders through recruiting the horses’ cooperation produces more reliable partners. He designed an indoor course with varying degrees of mental and physical hurdles, and a challenging outdoor course, the “Trusting Partners™Obstacle Course, to help others build a better understanding between horse and human.
